Baylor University and Proventia®
Case Study

Problem: ISS client Baylor University needed security measures that would inspect and block attacks before they could cause campus outbreaks of viruses, worms or other threats.
ISS, a leading supplier of internet security software to corporations and institutions worldwide (that has since merged with IBM), wanted to demonstrate the success of its Proventia intrusion prevention system without getting hung up in the technical details.
Solution: A case study was the obvious answer: Interview the IT staff at Baylor and relate a view “from the trenches” of how well the software performed. After all, as they said, “The student PCs are unmanaged and can contain almost anything.”
